Firefox Password Manager and Master Password

Firefox comes with built-in password manager tool which remembers username and passwords for all the websites you visit. This login/password information is stored in the encrypted form in Firefox database files residing in user's profile directory.

How FireMaster Works?

FireMaster supports following password recovery methods

1) Dictionary Cracking Method

In this mode, FireMaster uses dictionary file having each word on separate line to perform the operation. You can find lot of online dictionary with different sizes and pass it on to Firemaster. This method is more quicker and can find out common passwords.

2) Hybrid Cracking Method

This is advanced dictionary method, in which each word in the dictionary file is prefixed or suffixed with generated word from known character list. This can find out password like pass123, 12test, test34 etc. From the specified character list (such as 123), all combinations of strings are generated and appended or prefixed to the dictionary word based on user settings.

3) Brute-force Cracking Method

In this method, all possible combinations of words from given character list is generated and then subjected to cracking process. This may take long time depending upon the number of characters and position count specified.

4) Pattern based Brute-force Cracking Method

Pattern based cracking method significantly reduces the password recovery time especially when password is complex. This method can be used when you know the exact password length and remember few characters.

 -q        Quiet & Fast mode. Don't print verbose messages & statistics.

 Dictionary Crack Options:
 -d        Dictionary crack operation
 -f        Wordlist file with one password on each line

 Hybrid Dictionary Crack Options:
 -h        Hybrid crack operation using passwords from wordlist file
 -c        List of characters
 -l        Maximum length of word generated from charlist
 -s        Suffix the generated word (123) to password from file (e.g pass123)
 -p        Prefix the generated word (123) to password from file (e.g 123pass)
 -f        Wordlist file with one password on each line

 Bruteforce Crack Options:
 -b        Bruteforce crack operation
 -c        List of characters
 -m        Minimum length of password
 -l        Maximum length of password

 Bruteforce-Pattern Crack Options:
 -p        Pattern-bruteforce crack operation
 -c        List of characters

Important Information:

"Firefox_Profile_Path" is the last parameter which is optional. If not specified it will use current Firefox profile path.
You can specify any profile path containing key4.db file from any Mozilla based apps like Firefox, WaterFox, Zen, Thunderbird etc from Windows, Linux operation system.
Quiet mode (-q option) if omitted it prints stats for each password.
Quiet mode (-q option) make it faster by disabling verbose printing & statistics display for each password.
Hybrid method is useful for trying passwords like pass123, 123pass etc. It generates all possible words from given charlist (e.g "12345) and attaches (prefix/suffix) it to each password from dictionary file.
Brure-force Pattern mehod is very useful when you know exact length of password & partially know part of the password ( read more here)
By default it includes small dictionary file (passlist.txt). AI can help you find large wordlist file as per your requirements.

Version 2.5: 22nd March 2008

Pattern based brute force password recovery method is implemented which reduces the time considerably when certain part of the password is already known. Also minimum length of password can be specified which improves the recovery time greatly.

Usage is simplified by forcing one crack method at a time and providing better meaningful options. Fixed the bug in displaying statistics and now it displays the remaining time accurately based on the current speed which is computed dynamically.
